How we list and order companies

  • Who is included: companies whose own website says they install or deliver residential storm shelters or safe rooms in Central Texas, in a city we cover, or across Texas.
  • Order: (1) companies on the National Storm Shelter Association's public member lists first, (2) then the longest in business according to the company's own website, (3) then alphabetical. Companies with no stated start year come after those with one. This is not a rating and says nothing about quality.
  • What we show: name, where it is based, service area, website, public business phone, shelter types, and standards claims in the company's own words. We do not show reviews, star ratings, photos, logos or prices.
  • What we do not verify: standards claims (FEMA P-320, FEMA P-361, ICC 500, ATSA, lab testing) are the company's own statements. Ask for the test report for the exact model and door. See FEMA P-361 & ICC 500.
  • Sources: each company's own website and the NSSA public member lists (nssa.cc), checked October 19, 2026. Facts change; if something is wrong, tell us.
  • Featured partners: a company may in future pay for a clearly labeled "Featured partner" spot on a city page. Featured placement is advertising, not a rating, and does not change the order of the list.
